SHBJJ started as a small club of expats training in mixed martial arts. They were the first group to practice BJJ regularly in Shanghai. Over time they developed into a professional academy catering to a wide base of international and local students. SHBJJ was the first and still the premier BJJ training center in Shanghai.

The martial arts industry in Shanghai is still far behind that of the US in terms of business management. SHBJJ has implemented systems to raise the professional standards of the academy to be on par with the professional academies in the developed countries. In the future, there will be more and more people claiming or offering to teach BJJ in Shanghai, although there will be some authentic places, there will also be a lot of dodgy places as this sport/art is still relatively unknown in China so people can be cheated more easily.
We really try hard to make sure everyone has fun training with us, safety is a priority and the students’ development on and off the mats is most important to us.
